EXISTS.
Our Story
BridgeWorks was born from three people who kept solving the same problem from different sides of the same product:
“How do you turn a product idea into something that actually sells – reliably – when the factory is on the other side of the world?”
Alex is an industrial designer and mechanical engineer. He runs his own studio for leading brands, a field he has been working on for over 30 years, focusing not only on innovation but also on production capacity and market access. He initially manufactured in Europe, then in the United States, and now, for the last decade, in China.
He divides his time between his work in the studio (form, function, technology, and branding) and on the production lines (molds, tooling, processes, and quality control). His work involves collaborating with engineers and technicians to find the right technology for each finished product, and he often ends up helping the factories themselves improve their processes. He is focused not only on innovation but also on achieving superior quality while maintaining affordable costs.
Kurt is a former London Big Four accountant who has spent the last decade building and scaling e-commerce products.
He launched his own brand from scratch, which meant doing everything end-to-end: identifying profitable niches, scraping and analysing competitor listings and reviews, sourcing and negotiating with factories in China and India, and managing FBA, freight and customs. When products failed in the real world, he owned the fixes—re-engineering specs, tightening QC and iterating based on customer data.
Today, that mix of financial rigour, market analysis and operational trench work is applied at Bridgeworks, where he focuses on building product lines that are commercially viable, operationally robust and genuinely ready for scale.
Bob has over 25 years of experience in the Chinese manufacturing industry. Born in China and based in Hangzhou, he holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering and has worked on the front lines between global clients and the production plant. He has worked with diverse technologies, from metallurgical products to digital products.
His extensive experience working in various top global factories in China included managing international accounts: coordinating orders with technical teams, translating client requirements into production-ready instructions, troubleshooting production line issues, and traveling to trade shows and client meetings worldwide.
Today, this experience is applied to Bridgeworks, where he is the Chinese industrial engineering arm, working on both the production and trading of products developed in China.
We first met working together on a project. Kurt and Alejo were on the brand side, pushing for better design, quality and commercial viability. Bob was in China, making sure the factory could actually deliver what was promised. Between late-night calls, sample rounds and production tweaks, it became obvious: Together, we could offer what brands were trying to coordinate with three or four different providers – market analysis, design, factory selection, production and iteration – under one roof, with someone on the ground in China.
